Outside of Scott's apartment is a lovely lake named Silver Lake. There are cute little (less than functioning) docks along it to add to it's charm.

Saturday, after Scott had been working many hours on a 10 page report for school and his brain was fried, we walked the kids down to the lake so the boys could try their new R.C. boats out.

Owen had gotten his for his birthday in November, and then Garrett loved it so much that he bought his own with his birthday money! They both eagerly (and very impatiently) waited until we were up here to try them out so they could do it when Daddy was there with them.
The poor ducks that all swam over to us thinking that we were bringing them some bread were surprised when the boats started to chase them around!

I was really worried about getting one of these for Owen for his birthday because I had yet to find any R.C. that would last more than 15 minutes before it was either broken, the motor was fried, or it had integral parts and pieces fall out. I kept the receipts for these and expected to take them back to Target after our first time trying to play with them...but I've been pleasantly surprised! These little boats are the best R.C. toy I have seen so far. We've tried hover crafts, cars, trucks, helicopters, fairies, and all kinds of other vehicles, and these boats have outlived them all. The are battery run instead of charged, so that is a drawback, but we haven't had to replace batteries yet and we've played with them for a couple of days.

Yesterday after church Scott drove us all down to Seattle to a shipping yard there that has an R.C. boating area for the boys to try distance driving their boats. We were really cautious on the lake making sure that they didn't go too far out where they couldn't get the r.c. signal and would be stuck in the middle of a lake.

They were able to go all the way across the pool and back again without the kids having to move closer. We had a lot of fun playing with them and then walking up and down the dock looking at all the large boats and reading about what they each did.

But when did it start getting dark at 4:30? We ran out of light and it wasn't even dinner time! We stayed and played in the dark for a bit, but with the dark also comes a chill in the air.

As we drove home, Scott and I were both ready for bed, but it was only 6:30... evil daylight savings time.
