Our Family Christmas Party

We had our family Christmas party this past Saturday and the kids all had a ball. There was WAY too much food, lots and lots of cousins, tons of loud laughing, and smiles all around.

On Daddy's side of the family the cousins who are still kids all switch names and then buy a gift for the one cousin whose name they drew. My kids love this tradition each year and have fun coming up with ideas as to what to get them. And each year Grandma and Grandpa give the grandkids a plethora of gifts! Owen had the best reaction this year when he opened one of his boxes from Grandma. She had wrapped the gift in a Corndog box and when he took off the wrapping paper and saw the box he got all excited and proclaimed, "Yeah, Corndogs! And I'm gonna eat them all myself!" Everyone laughed and laughed at that. Then when he was told to open the box he found a stuffed puppy (who he immediately named Peanut Butter) and some other fun things and he was equally impressed!

> Then Grandpa gave each of the grandsons a treasure box that he had made. He had finished Owen's and all the other bigger boys he left the assembly and staining for the boys to do with their dads and gave them all the supplies they needed. Owen and Garrett were in heaven with their boxes! Owen loves to have a treasure box, and Garrett was over thrilled to be given a project to do with Daddy!

Here are some pictures of the kids opening their gifts. Owen's cousin gave
him two little dogs - who are now named "Rex" and "Shasta". Teagan's cousin gave her a Littlest Pet Shop box to hold her pets in and a VIP (Virtual Internet Pet). And Garrett's cousin (lives in California and couldn't make it here for Christmas) sent him a gift certificate to Barnes and Nobles and he is already planning which books he wants to get - he is thinking about some A-Z Mysteries or Magic Treehouse books! (the camera caught him with his eyes semi-closed, but you get the idea!)They all loved watching their cousins open their gifts, and the gift that they received.

It was a fun night for all the kids and all the adults. We played games, ate yummy food, and enjoyed being together with each other!

I remember gift exchanges as a kid. I loved them. It was done away with for one family as they didn't think that enough money was spent on them. Whaaaa?! It's not about that, but hey, I just play by the rules and will start this up when we have grandkids. (My kids have no cousins their age. Hubs family is much older and I am the only child with children in my family.) yay for me! I have the best kids.

Merry Christmas. Love your cute kids.
