This isn't what we had planned on Emmett wearing, but it was the only thing he would let us put on him, so Spiderman he was! Our original thought was that he was going to be a cheetah and Duncan was going to be a polar bear and they would sit in the wagon together and we were going to decorate it with a sign that said 'ZOO' and looked like a cage. It would have been cute; but having Spiderman in the zoo just made no sense, so we didn't do it. Poor Duncan just stayed with me most of the night.
Her eyes are so beautiful it's a shame that one was covered up all night long!
Duncan was just wondering why he was getting tricked at such a young age. The thing started right at 6, the time when he is usually getting fed, and I held him off until it was over at 7:15. He thought it was not cool to trick a little guy instead of giving him a treat.
Scott and the boys didn't get home until almost 9. The had left at one, so it had been a long day for them! The reservoir where they went (Strawberry) was almost 2 hours away, so a lot of the time was spent driving. They came home with a cooler filled with these guys.
A couple dozen in all. And 3/4 of them the boys caught by hand! Their Uncle Stuart and cousin Spencer had gone with them, and everyone had a fun (but very cold and extremely muddy) time.
The poor little crawdads got confused when they got home and Stu dropped them all in the bathtub to get scrubbed off. The crawdads thought they had been given a new lease on life as they swam and walked around the tub. They aren't thinking that now. They aren't thinking anything.
After having seen them in the tub, when it was time for Owen to take a quick bath he was scared one had snuck into the drain and was going to swim back up and pinch him. So his treat of the day ended up tricking him tonight.
But he wasn't the only one who got tricked. We divvied the crawdads up to share with Stuart and his family and then put ours in the fridge to wait until their dreaded moment of death would come. Garrett was worried about them not getting any air in the container they were in, so he opened the lid a smidgen. Then, when Scott got up at 3am to get himself something to drink, he got a little early morning shock. When he opened the fridge, he found they had escaped and were all over the fridge checking out what we had hidden in it! !
He got them back the next day though when he made crawdad gumbo!
Fun times!
