Gratitude 1: Now I leis me down to sleep....

Halloween has come and gone. The costumes are back in the costume box, the face paint has all been washed off, and the candy has all been sorted and 'dealt with.'
This year we did Halloween differently than in the past. Usually we are trick-or-treating with cousins, but this year was our first year going solo. So we went to the mall and got some treats there (this cool picture being one of them), then went around a neighborhood up in the mountains where they gave the kids soda pops, full size bars, and one house even gave out new dollar bills! Then we came back to our neighborhood and stopped by a few houses of the kids' teachers and friends.

When all was said and done, they had collected 17.5 lbs of candy!

So I sorted it (like my usual OCD-self does!) and pulled out what we wanted to donate to the dentist to send to the troops overseas. (that bag was over 5lb of candy!)  Then today each of the kids made their own candy leis to countdown the days until Christmas. That's 54 candies that each got, but they only get to eat one day, so overall it isn't too much candy for them. each leis is about 20' long, so now my only delimna is trying to figure out where to hang them while they are so long!
The leis idea seems like a good idea for rationing Halloween candy, and we will see if it proves to keep its novelty for the next two months!

Today's gratitude thought:
I'm grateful for my kids who are always so willing to go along with whatever hairbrained idea I come up with....Scottie may laugh at my overactive personality, but my kids love that quality in me!
